The Grimoire of Pope Honorius

This is a very rare and very limited generous half-leather edition of the infamous Grimoire of Pope Honorius, which was published by the Hell Fire Club (HFC) in 2005. It presents a facsimile reproduction of the English translation of this notorious work and is the true first edition of this publication.

Only 1 copy available

The book is large octavo format, in very good condition with no internal marks or external damage.

The Hell Fire Club limited edition of this work, was hand sewn and bound in a total of 56 copies (with 6 copies produced in full-leather, and another 50 copies in half leather). This edition has red half leather and green cloth, with gorgeous marbled endpapers, and quality heavy stock used for the pages, with all the page edges being hand-dyed green, red and green headbands, red and green marker ribbons.

This is a facsimile of the manuscript (hence the “MS” on the spine) belonging to F.G. Irwin who was a member of Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia, The Society of Eight, the Fratres Lucis and the Golden Dawn, and his bookplate has been pasted onto the front pastedown. All of the blind tooling decoration to the spine is by hand using 19th century book-binders tools.

The text is a colour reproduction of nineteenth century Grimoire or Book of Spells of Pope Honorius, once in the personal collection of Frederick George Irwin – a prominent fringe freemason and member of the ‘Society of Eight’ precursor to the Societas Rosicruciana In Anglia and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Irwin was an associate of Hockley who appears to have had this English language translation prepared from French originals of Honorius and the ‘Collection of the Secrets of the Magic Art’ of one Guidon, which draws heavily upon the Grimorium Verum and the ‘Pacts’.”
