THE MASTER THERION
(Aleister Crowley)
Lecram Press 1929
Subscribers Edition
Original canvas buckram over boards, top edge gilt, titles gilt to spine, all pages present and intact, 436pp with illustrations, tables etc.
Interesting A.’.A.’. contemporary student ownership with pencil notes to inner front board, no bookplate but the pencil notes suggest a contemporary student of Crowley’s A.’A.’.
Aleister Crowley originally had “Magick” issued in four parts in Paris, each in paper wrappers, and with an additional color plate, but was apparently dissatisfied with the result, and had the plate removed, a new title page prepared, and had most copies disbound and sent to Britain, where they were rebound in a durable cloth or buckram, to make this, the “Subscriber’s Edition.” Although the title-page has the date of 1929, the “Subscriber’s Edition” did not actually appear until 1930 and has been a rare work ever since.
